On 14 July 2018, Tsavliris dispatched the AHTS "SHIN CHOU MARU" (7,500 BHP – 110 TBP) from Yokosuka, Japan, to the assistance of Motor Tanker "MR KENTAURUS" (GT 29,600 – DWT 46,540), in ballast, immobilised due to engine problem about 300 miles south of Yokosuka. On 15 July towage commenced and convoy arrived at Wakayama Shimotsu anchorage on 18 July. During the repairs, the salvage tug provided standby services until 20 July whereupon the operation was completed.
Tsavliris is now in the position to offer in Taiwan and adjacent areas, salvage, towage and antipollution services following its strategic alliance with leading local partners.
A special event was organised in Taiwan and a Tsavliris delegation presented the company and all its associated services to the local shipping market.
The International Salvage Union published today its annual statistics for 2017. The industry continues to be active, continues to invest and continues to mitigate loss for ship owners and insurers.
The total number of "dry" salvage services (emergency response as opposed to wreck removal) in 2017 was 251.
On 16 May 2018, the Bulk Carrier "ALKYON" (GT 24,163 – DWT 36,056), laden with 28.000 tonnes wood pellets in bulk, immobilised due to engine problem approximately 80 nautical miles north-west of Hamilton, Bermuda. The vessel was en route from Panama City, Florida, USA to Port of Tyne, UK. On 16 May, Tsavliris dispatched the powerful ocean going tug "ALP GUARD" (BHP 24,500 - TBP 285) from Port of Spain, Trinidad, arriving at the casualty on 20 May.

The inaugural SAFETY4SEA Conference in Cyprus successfully concluded on Tuesday 17 April 2018, at Columbia Plaza in Limassol, attracting 220 delegates from a total of 115 organisations.
Mr. George Tsavliris, Chairman, CYMEPA discussed the critical issues raised during MEPC72, including the reduction of GHG from ships, implementation of sulphur 2020 and measures to reduce risk of use and carriage of HFO in Arctic. Mr. Tsavliris referred to the chaos with the Paris Agreement concerning shipping.
Tsavliris Salvage has further expanded its fleet with its latest acquisition. The new tug "PROTEAS" (BHP 3,200 – BP 45T) was delivered on 19 March 2018 at Piraeus and is fitted with FIFI 1 capabilities.

Tsavliris Salvage were promptly contracted to provide salvage assistance. On 24 March, the casualty was successfully refloated by the tugs.

The very succesful 18th Mare Forum took place on 12 March 2018 at the Athens Holton hotel. The conference was titled "Everything is changing" and was chaired by Mr George A. Tsavliris. The Mare Forum conferences are considered to be among the most global and influential forums for the maritime and shipping industry.

Collectively the Greek salvage companies have performed 28 of the salvage operations with the Tsavliris Companies performing the most (12 services).
