On 30 December 2018, the Motor Chemical Tanker "ATLANTIC VOYAGER" (GRT 8,513 – DWT 12,807), in ballast condition, immobilised 84 miles west of Lamberts Bay, South Africa, due to engine problems. The vessel was drifting towards the open sea due to the prevailing current. Tsavliris Salvage was engaged to provide assistance. On 11 January, the salvage operation was successfully completed.

Read MoreOn 7 October 2018, the Container Ship "CSL VIRGINIA" (GRT 54,592 - DWT 66,644), whilst anchored north of Cap Corse, northern Corsica peninsula, in ballast condition, was allided by the Tunisian Ferry "ULYSSE" (GRT 17,907) which was en route from Genoa, Italy to Tunis, Tunisia. The "CSL VIRGINIA" suffered substantial damage (several meters hull breach by way of her starboard side at hold No.3) . Oil pollution from bunkers occurred in the area. The succesful operation lasted three weeks.
On 2 November 2018, the Bulk Carrier "PAOLA BOTTIGLIERI'' (GRT 51,250 - DWT 93,260), fully laden with grain, immobilized due to loss of starboard anchor at San Lorenzo roads (KM 457), Argentina.
The T/B "COOPOR ESTIBADOR" (5,500 BHP – 60 TBP) was deployed by Tsavliris from San Lorenzo to provide standby and escorting services to Recalada, Argentina as per the Coastguard regulations. All necessary services were performed and the operation was completed on 6 November.
The International Bunker Industry Association (IBIA) Annual Convention 2018, took place on 6-8 November 2018 in Copenhagen.
IBIA's Annual Convention is one of the top Bunker/Shipping events in the industry, held annually in different countries around the world, with highly acclaimed speakers, sponsors and delegates.
Mr George Tsavliris participated as speaker in two panels.
The "8th Annual Operational Excellence in Shipping Forum" took place on 30 October 2018 in Athens. The Forum explored the Best Industry Practices across all major areas such as fleet management, technological innovation, crewing, energy efficiency and the environment, safety & security.
Mr George Tsavliris participated as speaker at the Maritime Education panel.
The successful "3rd Eu-Arab World Summit: Shared Horizons" took place on 29-30 October 2018, at the Athens Concert Hall. The event brought together Heads of State, senior EU officials, Ministers, scholars, influential business leaders, and other distinguished representatives from more than 30 countries.
Mr George Tsavliris was invited as speaker at the panel titled "the Role of Transportation in Promoting Growth in Trade and Investments between EU and Arab Countries".
On 5 October 2018, the general cargo vessel "IBRAHIM KONAN" (GRT 5,581 - DWT 8,107), en route from Italy to Varna, Bulgaria, laden with 2,520 tonnes of RDF (refuse-derived fuel), immobilised due to main engine and auxiliaries failure, about 45 miles north west of Cephalonia island, Greece. On the same day, Tsavliris' T/B "PROTEAS" (3,200 BHP - 45 TBP) mobilised from Patras, Greece, arrived at the casualty's position on 6 October and towage commenced.
The 9th Hydra Shipping Conference, organised by the Fraternity of the Athenian Hydriots ( www.aya.com.gr ) was successfully concluded on Saturday 15 September 2018 at the Conference Hall of the Holy Cathedral of Hydra, under the auspices of the Ministry of Shipping, the Hellenic Chamber of Shipping, the Hellenic Marine Environment Association (HELMEPA), the Hellenic Shipbrokers Association (HSA), the Piraeus Marine Club, the Yacht Club of Greece, the International Propeller Club of the United States and the Women's International Shipping & Trading Association (WISTA). Mr George Tsavliris was the Chairman and Moderator of the 9th Hydra Shipping Conference.
Read MoreOn 3 August 2018, Tsavliris dispatched the AHT "LANPAN 28" (BHP 8,160 – BP 121) from Singapore, to the assistance of Bulk Carrier "KAVO PLATANOS" (GT 33,042 – DWT 56,750), in ballast, disabled at Chittagong Roads due to propeller damage, following collision. On 11 August, the salvage tug arrived at the casualty's position and towage commenced on 13 August. On 27 August, the convoy arrived safely at Singapore, the casualty was delivered to port tugs at Sudong anchorage and the operation was completed.
