28 Mar 2021 Collision of BC "KIVELI" and BC "AFINA I"

On 13 March 2021, the Bulk Carriers "AFINA I" (GT 8,887 – DWT 12,824) and "KIVELI" (GT 22,115 – DWT 38,191), collided in a T-shape, 9,8 miles NW of Kythira island, Greece.
Tsavliris were contracted by the owners of the BC "KIVELI" to provide salvage assistance and unlock the two casualties.
On 28 March, the vessels were successfully separated.

27 Mar 2021 IMO: Shipping emissions rose due to increased maritime trade

IMO published its Fourth Green House Gas Study which shows a 9.6% increase in shipping emissions, mostly due to the continuous increase of global maritime trade. The study estimates that shipping emitted 1,056 million tons of CO2 in 2018, compared to 977 tonnes in 2012. This amount accounts for about 2.89% of the total global CO2 emissions in that year.

20 Mar 2021 HCG antipollution patrol boat “417”

On 19 March 2021, Tsavliris S/T “HERMES” (BHP 2,725 – BP 41) salved and towed (gratis) the Hellenic Coast Guard antipollution patrol boat “417” in Vatika Bay, Neapolis, Peloponnese. The vessel became disabled in strong winds.

On 12 March 2021, the Tsavliris S/T "HERMES" departed from her Patras salvage station to assist the Passenger Cruise Ship "MSC LIRICA" (GT 65,591 - DWT 6,563), which caught fire at Corfu Port.

10 Feb 2021 Bulk Carrier "MASTER"

The Kamsarmax Bulk Carrier "MASTER" (GT 44,619 - DWT 81,588), fully laden with soya beans, en route from Kalama Port, Portland, USA, to Jingtang, China, began running out of fuel due to bad weather during her westerly transpacific crossing.
Tsavliris towed the vessel to Muroran, Japan, arriving safely on 9 February 2021.

08 Feb 2021 Bulk Carrier "SALLY M"

On 5 February 2021, the Bulk Carrier "SALLY M" (GT 4,569 - DWT 7,435), fully laden with salt, ran aground at Katakolo port entrance, Ionian Sea, Greece while en route from Egypt to Slovenia.
Tsavliris provided assistance and the vessel was refloated successfully on 7 February.

03 Feb 2021 Bulk Carrier "SOLSTICE N"

On 19 January 2021, the Bulk Carrier "SOLSTICE N" (GT 35,581 - DWT 44,022), immobilised in Genova, Italy, due to rudder problem.
Tsavliris despatched the S/T "A.H. Liguria" (BHP 16,320 - BP 180) from Malta and towed the vessel to Piraeus.

01 Feb 2021 Bulk Carrier "NAVIOS SUN"

On 10 January 2021, the Bulk Carrier "NAVIOS SUN" (GT 39,738 - DWT 76,619), immobilised due to tail shaft/malfunction about 50 miles SE from Kuriles Island, North Pacific. During the incident the vessel was on a voyage from Kushiro, Japan, to Vancouver, Canada, in ballast condition.
Tsavliris provided salvage assistance and on 31 January the operation was successfully completed.

22 Dec 2020 Crude Oil Tanker "MARQUESSA"

On 7 December 2020, the Crude Oil Aframax Tanker "MARQUESSA" (GT 58,446 - DWT 104,592), immobilised due to fire in the engine room, off Lanyu Island, Taiwan, in adverse weather conditions. During the incident the vessel was on a ballast voyage from China to Singapore.
Tsavliris provided salvage assistance.

The Oxford Philharmonic Orchestra organised a wonderful concert to pay tribute to the Oxford Vaccine Group and their dedication and relentless hard work to develop a successful vaccine to fight the pandemic. Their efforts have been recognised by the United Nations as a symbol of hope.
Mr George Tsavliris has been one of the longest standing trustees of the Oxford Philharmonic Orchestra.
