On 1 November 2016, the Products Tanker "SPOTTAIL" (GT 40,975 – DWT 74,997) on passage from Singapore to Sri Lanka, in ballast condition, ran aground on the north coast of Pulau Takong Besar, Indonesia. The port authority of Batam claimed reef and fish farm damage.
On 2 November, Tsavliris Salvage were contracted to provide salvage services.
On 19 October 2016, Tsavliris dispatched salvage tug "SALVAGE TITAN" (BHP 9,200 – BP 117 T) from Kaohsiung to the assistance of Bulk Carrier "MINOAN COURAGE" (GT 40,014 – DWT 76,801) fully laden with soya beans, immobilised due to main engine breakdown in bad weather conditions (approaching typhoon "HAIMA"), in the South China Sea, approx. 50 miles south-east of Shantou, China. On 20 October the salvage tug "SALVAGE TITAN" arrived at casualty's position.

On 8 November, upon completion of discharge, towage commenced and the convoy arrived safely at Singapore on 16 November where the vessel was delivered to dry dock tugs.
On 28 September 2016, the salvage tug "TSAVLIRIS HELLAS" (BHP 9,600 –TBP 121) was dispatched from her permanent salvage station at Ponta Delgada, Azores, to the assistance of the Chemical/Products Tanker "ELKA GLORY" (GT 27,612 – DWT 44,598), fully laden with 42,000 MT of ultra-low sulfur diesel, immobilised about 1,000 miles west of Ponta Delgada due to stern tube leakage.
On 1 October the "TSAVLIRIS HELLAS" arrived at the casualty's position and commenced escorting towards the discharging port Pembroke, UK.
Tsavliris Salvage Group held their traditional Christmas Cocktail Reception at the Royal Thames Yacht Club in London, on 8 December 2016. With about 330 key players from various sectors of the shipping community attending, the annual event is a Christmas highlight for the London Maritime Community.

Natalia Tsavliris - Vasilopoulos presented the "Seafarer of the Year" Award to Captain Diamantis Papageorgiou, master of Hellenic Seaways ferry "Nissos Rodos".
On the occasion of the celebration of 80 years of the Piraeus Branch of the Propeller Club, special awards were presented to Past Presidents for their contribution to the growth of the Club. The ceremony took place during the annual Amver Awards on 31 October 2016. Mr Nicolas A. Tsavliris who served as President of the Propeller Club from 2007 to 2009 was honoured with the Propeller Club Special Award.

-On 5 August 2016 the T/B "ONA DON LORENZO" (4,500 BHP – 62 TBP) was mobilized together with Tsavliris' Salvage Master from Rosario to the assistance of Bulk Carrier "ARCTURUS" (GT 40,008 – DWT 78397) grounded at 150 km mark, Parana Bravo river, Argentina. The successful salvage operation terminated on 7 August.
-On 12 August 2016 the AHT "FAIRMOUNT SHERPA" (16,320 BHP – 2015 TBP) was dispatched to the assistance of Bulk Carrier "SILVERSTAR" (GT 19,731 – DWT 31,762), in ballast condition, immobilised due to mechanical failure in Malacca Straits, 180 miles north-west of Port Kelang, Malaysia, whilst on passage from Bangladesh to Singapore. The successful salvage operation terminated on 17 August.
-On 20 August 2016 the TB "HERMES I" (1,500 BHP – 20 TBP) was dispatched to the assistance of Motor Yacht "EMOTION" (LOA 22 M – type PRINCESS 72 Y - built 2012), disabled due to engine problem about 70 miles west of Cephalonia island.
-On 24 June the tugboats "ARGENTINO I" (BHP 3,400 – TBP 42) and "TUMBADOR" (BHP 3,380 – TBP 45) were dispatched from Rosario, Argentina to the assistance of bulk carrier "GEORGIA T" (GT 43,975 – DWT 80,416) disabled at anchor at KM 268 Rio Parana.
-On 1 July 2016 the ST "TSAVLIRIS HELLAS" (BHP 9,600 – 121 TBP) was dispatched from her permanent salvage station at Ponta Delgada, Azores Island, to the assistance of Passenger (Cruise) ship "BLACK WATCH" (GT 28,613) with 696 passengers and a crew of 365 on board. The vessel was immobilised due to generators' fire about 250 miles south east of Ponta Delgada.
'Application of human rights throughout the maritime environment at all times without exception' was the main message of the very succesful 1st International Maritime Human Rights (IMHR) conference organised on 4 September 2016, at The Royal College of Surgeons in London. Tsavliris Salvage supported the event and Mr George Tsavliris participated as a speaker.
