For the 8th consecutive year TSAVLIRIS took to the podium on Friday 7th December to present the "Seafarer of the Year" Award at the 9th Annual Lloyd's List Greek Shipping Awards 2012.

Mr. George A. Tsavliris, one of the Principals of Tsavliris Salvage Group, presented the award this year. This award is one which Tsavliris Salvage Group is honoured and proud to sponsor as it truly is the Seafarer who is the heart and soul of the shipping community.

This year the "Seafarer of the Year" Award was won by Capt. Athanasios Pagkalos of the Costamare containership "NAVARINO". The master was awarded the prize for going to the rescue of an ailing 72 year-old yachtsman last August, when he called for help hundreds of miles off the coast of Hawaii.

Lloyd's List held a spectacular and glamorous event with over 1,000 shipping personalities, executives and guests in attendance, and with Greece's Lloyd's List correspondent, Nigel Lowry, taking to the stage once again as the Master of Ceremonies.
