On 18 April 2024, the Bulk Carrier "VELA STAR" (GT 44,146, DWT 83651), in partly laden condition, ran aground at km 12 of access channel to the Port of Buenos Aires, Argentina, partially blocking the channel. Tsavliris despatched two tugs from Buenos Aires and refloated the vessel.
On 15 March 2024, the Motor Tanker "SOFIA II" (GT 55,898 – DWT 105,400), laden with 90,228 tonnes of fuel oil, suffered main engine damage approx..550 miles SW of Saint Helena (South Atlantic Ocean) and was disabled/drifting. On 16 March, Tsavliris despatched an Oceangoing/Salvage Tug to tow the vessel and on 14 April the operation was completed successfully after four weeks.
