On 18 September 2021, Tsavliris despatched the T/B "DIONYSIOS Z" (BHP 5,220 – BP 65) from Thessaloniki to the assistance of the Bulk Carrier "LEVANTES" (GT 40,008 - DWT 76,015) which had been seriously damaged as a consequence of collision with the Bulk Carrier "CLIPPER COMO" off Lemnos Island, Greece.
In September Tsavliris arranged towage of the Rescue/Survey Vessel "OCEAN INVESTIGATOR" (GT 3,327 - DWT 2,690) from Ambelaki, Salamis Island, Greece, to Tuzla shipyard, Turkey, for maintenance/repairs. The convoy arrived safely at destination on 10 September.
The AGCS annual review of trends and developments in shipping losses shows a long-term positive safety trend with the number of reported total losses of over 100GT remaining stable. The annual shipping losses have halved over the past decade. South China, Indochina, Indonesia and Philippines is the global loss hotspot, accounting for a third of all losses worldwide.
On 19 August 2021, the craned Bulk Carrier "NAVIOS AMARYLLIS" (GT 32,415 - DWT 58,735), in ballast, grounded on Rasfaree reef in the Kaafu Atoll, the Maldives. The vessel was on a voyage from Tuticorin, India to Saldanha Bay, South Africa. Tsavliris were contracted to provide salvage assistance in the environmentally sensitive area. On 29 August, the casualty was successfully refloated without any oil spill.
Tsavliris Salvage has produced the new corporate Brochure which reviews the highlights of the Group's activities including the most important salvage operations performed. The Brochure is published every four years for over two decades. Once again Tsavliris have combined the commercial record with aspects of historical significance.
