TSAVLIRIS Cultural Foundation - CYMEPA - 2008 May 27
On Thursday May 15th, 2008 a photograph exhibition by Jeff Overs titled Our Beautiful, Fragile Planet was inaugurated by Mr. Charalambos Theopemptos, Commissioner for the Environment in Cyprus. At the inauguration, he congratulated the organizers for taking the initiative in setting up this excellent photo exhibition.
The exhibition was organized by the Bank of Cyprus Cultural Foundation in conjunction with the Eurolife Insurance Company, CYMEPA and the TSAVLIRIS Cultural Foundation. The exhibition is organized in the framework of the World Day of Environment on June 5th, 2008. Mrs. Artemis Pantelidou, the Managing Director of Eurolife Insurance Company, pointed out the company's policy in the section of environment and mentioned that choosing the set up of this exhibition is not coincidental as Eurolife has determined specific environmental course aiming to the public sensitivity for the environment protection, the energy saving & recycling. Mr. George A. Tsavliris, President of CYMEPA referred to the random meeting he had with Jeff Overs on the Perito Morene Glacier of Patagonia, Argentine. Then, he cited that the glacier represents today one of some examples of the huge problem that environment encounters in relation to the greenhouse phenomenon. Jeff Overs thanked the organizers for giving him the chance to exhibit part of his work, to the general public of Cyprus. Mrs. Lefki Michailidou, the Manager of the Cultural Foundation warmly thanked the attendees. She also mentioned that the Foundation has organized exhibitions related to the environment, has subsumed in its editorial program books and audiovisual productions for the biota of Cyprus while activities concerning the environment have been scheduled for the future. At the opening, the principals from the Bank of Cyprus Unit, members of the Photo Company of Cyprus as well as CYMEPAs friends were present.
The exhibition takes place at the Bank of Cyprus Cultural Foundation, 86-90 Faneromenis, in Nicosia till June 14th, 2008 Monday thru Saturday from 10 am to 6 pm.
