Bulk Carrier "TUTOR" - 2024 Jun 27

On 12 June 2024, the Bulk Carrier "TUTOR" (GT 44,479– DWT 82,357), laden with 80,000 coal in bulk, was struck by missiles, approximately 60 miles SW of Hodeidah, Red Sea, while en route from Ust Luga, Russia to Kandla, India. Sadly, a seafarer died. The vessel was disabled following severe damage and flooding of the engine room.
On the same day, Tsavliris despatched the S/T GLADIATOR (BP 115 – BHP 8,000) from Salalah, Oman and the AHTS HERCULES (BP 65 – BHP 6,000) from Fujairah, UAE to the assistance of the casualty.
Tsavliris also mustered a salvage team in Greece consisting of a naval architect, divers team in Piraeus and Djibouti, riggers, and salvage antipollution ship AEGIS.
The 21 crew members were evacuated on 14 June by military authorities. Unfortunately, on 18 June, the vessel sank after a further attack, before the arrival of salvage assistance.
