The operation of the Floating Museum "Hellas Liberty" - 2024 Jun 24
A contract between the Ministry of Shipping & Island Policy and the Association "Friends of Liberty" was signed on 21 June 2024 at the Ministry's offices assigning the maintenance, management and operation of the Floating Museum "Hellas Liberty" to the Association.
George Tsavliris, President of the "Friends of Liberty" Association, expressed his satisfaction with the development.
The Minister of Shipping & Island Policy Christos Stylianidis praised the initiative of Spyros Polemis and the late Captain Vassilis Konstantakopoulos, for the "Hellas Liberty" to be granted to the Government of the Hellenic Republic in order to be turned into a Museum of Greek Merchant Shipping, which can be visited, since 2010, in the port of Piraeus. He also pointed out the contribution of the late Captain Vangelis Kouzilos, who was President of the Association "Friends of Liberty" for a number of years, maintaining excellent cooperation with the Ministry.
With the signing of the contract, the longstandingl cooperation between the Ministry of Shipping & Insular Policy and the Association "Friends of Liberty" is strengthened officially.
"I want to assure you that the cooperation between our Ministry and the Association "Friends of Liberty" will remain close and at an excellent level", said the Minister.
The event attended also the Secretary General of Shipping and Ports, Evangelos Kyriazopoulos, senior officers of the Hellenic Coast Guard, the President of the "Friends of Liberty" Association, George Tsavliris, the Vice President Anna Polemis, the General Manager Dimitris Sarikavazis, members of the Association Athanasios Beis, John Drakogiannopoulos, and the son of the late Captain Vangelis Kouzilos, Michalis Kouzilos.
