The Propeller Club of the United States, Port of Piraeus, organized the AMVER Awards event in cooperation with the American Coast Guard and the American Embassy. The ceremony took place at the DIVANI APOLLON PALACE HOTEL on 15th of November 2007.

During the ceremony, 140 shipping companies were awarded on behalf of 775 vessels that participated in the AMVER program. With this event, Greece has become number one with the most awards while Japan is second with 106 awards. The awards were given by Mr. Panos Kammenos, the Deputy Minister of Mercantile Marine, the Aegean & Island Policy, the two General Secretaries of the Ministry Messrs. Ioannis Tzoanos and George Vlahos as well as the Commercial attache of the American Embassy Mr. Stephen Alley. Also, the President of the Propeller Club, Mr. Nicolas A. Tsavliris handed 3 awards to the companies of Anangel Maritime Services Inc., Blue Waters Shipping Ltd. and Springfield Shipping Co. Panama S.A. for the unselfish efforts of their crews during shipping accidents.
