An idea of a presentation sprang to mind when CYMEPA President George Tsavliris met Jeff Overs at the Perito Moreno Glacier in Patagonia, Argentina. On Thursday 17 May 2007 CYMEPA organized its Annual Cultural Event with a presentation of photos by Jeff Overs titled "Our Beautiful, Fragile Planet"  that was graciously hosted by the Hellenic Bank at its Head Office Building in Nicosia.

The 30 km long glacier is an indicator of the global warming and the aim of the presentation is to put in perspective the global issues facing our planet using fascinating imagery as an extrapolation of CYMEPA's concern about the marine environment.The presentation was attended by H.E the High Commissioner of Australia and H.E. the Ambassador of Ireland, a number of photographers, members of CYMEPA and the public.

Jeff Overs has been the BBC News Stills Photographer since 1990 covering a diverse range of assignments.He has won several major photographic competitions including The Ilford and The Kodak Press Awards - and in 2004 he was the "The Royal Geographical Society's Photographer of the Year". The presentation carried the audience on an amazing journey from continent to continent, pointing out the beauty and the fragility of the planetary ecosystem. The event and the reception that followed were sponsored by the TSAVLIRIS Cultural Foundation.
