Crude Oil Tanker "MARQUESSA" - 2020 Dec 22

On 7 December 2020, the Crude Oil Aframax Tanker "MARQUESSA" (GT 58,446 - DWT 104,592), immobilised due to fire in the engine room, off Lanyu Island, Taiwan, in adverse weather conditions. During the incident the vessel was on a ballast voyage from China to Singapore. Part of the crew was evacuated by helicopters while the fire was extinguished by the ship's own means.

On 9 December, the S/T "SALVAGE CHAMPION" (BHP 10,000 – BP 80) mobilised from Kaohsiung, Taiwan to the assistance of the casualty, but the vessel drifted blown by strong winds into Philippinese territorial seas and anchored off Mabudis island.
On 11 December, Tsavliris despatched the AHT "POSH OSPREY" (BHP 16,300 - BP 200) arriving at the casualty's position under adverse weather conditions (NW 8 B) and on 13 December towage to Subic Bay, Philippines, commenced (NNW 9 B and wave height 3-4 meters). Port access was denied and the convoy proceeded to Manila Bay, Philippines. On 19 December, the convoy safely arrived OPL Manila with the assistance of the port tug "VIBORA". Another two port tugs namely the "TIBOU" and "ENERGY SKY" escorted the casualty to her designated anchorage position and remained on standby nearby the vessel.
On 21 December 2020, the "POSH OSPREY" was released and the operation was successfully completed.
